The Point Caswell Tract is located on the northeast and southwest side of S.R. #1101 (Point Caswell Road), west of N.C. Hwy. 210 West from Currie, N.C.

This tract has approximately 1,790 +/- feet of water frontage on the Black River. There is approximately 20.0 +/- acres on both sides of Point Caswell Road.

The prominent soils of this tract consist of the following:

1. Alpine (AnB) - Fine Sand, 1-4% Slopes
2. Autryville (AuB) - Fine Sand, 1-4% Slopes
3. Marvyn and Craven (McC) - 6-12% Slopes
4. Muckalee (Mk) - Loam

These soils, with the exception of Muckalee, are well drained on upland terraces. Infiltration is rapid, and surface runoff is slow. Permeability is moderate to rapid in the upper part, while the seasonal high water table is 4 to 6 feet below the surface.

The Muckalee series is a very poorly drained soil found on the flood plains, and is frequently flooded for brief periods. The seasonal high water table is 0.5 to 1.5 feet below the surface.
